The Made in NY campus, the site of a plan for a new film and fashion industry hub in Bush Terminal, is seeking developers for a food component at the site.

The New York Economic Development Corp. has put out a request for expressions of interest for any developer who can transform the 7,500 SF Food Building, currently sitting vacant, into any of a wide range of possible uses, so long as it includes a food retail component with indoor and outdoor seating, according to Curbed New York.

Of the possible uses laid out by the city, developers can choose from a culinary school, a food truck commissary, a food manufacturing facility or a catering company — anything from which people can order food and eat it at the site.

Mayor Bill de Blasio has set aside $136M as part of his 2018 budget to develop the Made in NY campus into a multi-building center for fashion and film, and the NYCEDC sees a food component as a way to both feed the reported 1,500 workers the site will bring and to connect the campus to the Sunset Park community.
