Rubenstein Partners has hired a heavyweight to lead its NYC operations.

The Philadelphia-based investment firm named Robert L. Andrews as director of New York City. Andrews comes to the firm from RXR Realty, where he led the acquisitions team responsible for mammoth buys such as the $1.65B purchase of 1285 Sixth Ave. and the $1.25B acquisition of 230 Park Ave.

Rubenstein first entered the NYC market in 2015 by buying into the sizable 25 Kent office development in Brooklyn, which the company recently pitched as a potential spot for Amazon's HQ2. Rubenstein is looking to aggressively expand in New York, and with the hire of Andrews, plans to deploy a closed $700M fund and an approaching deal for a new office in the city, The Real Deal reports.

“New York is a key market for Rubenstein Partners, and in Robert we believe we have identified the ideal leader to spearhead our further expansion here,” Rubenstein Partners founder and Senior Managing Partner David Rubenstein said in a release. “Our practice is to maintain senior level, on-the-ground coverage of the markets where we invest, and we expect that Robert’s valuable experience and local market knowledge will help us continue to identify and transact on the best value-added office opportunities here.”
