Another Hotel May Rise On Hoboken's Waterfront

A hotel, developed by KMS Development Partners, may rise on the site of the Sinatra Post Office parking lot, according to a redevelopment plan announced by Hoboken Mayor Dawn Zimmer. The plan will be formally introduced April 5.

The hotel would be an L-shaped structure up to 160 feet tall that would wrap around the rear of the post office, which will remain in operation, NJ.com reports. The post office's parking and loading areas would be concealed inside of a structure built during the hotel's construction, according to the redevelopment plan.

The plan also addresses additional pedestrian and bike access to Sinatra Drive, Pier A Park and the city's southern waterfront via new sidewalks and bike lanes. Zimmer said that the W Hotel, only a few blocks away, is often fully booked, and there is a clear need for more hotel space in Hoboken.

KMS Development Partners is in the process of purchasing 0.4 acres of property from the US Postal Service, according to the redevelopment plan.
