New Luxury Condos In S.F. Produce 100% Of Their Own Energy

The newest luxury condos to hit S.F. go above new city requirements—they will generate 100% of the energy they consume via rooftop solar panels while the building’s efficient design eliminates up to 90% of heating and cooling costs.

Sol-Lux Alpha is the company behind these green luxury condos, and when they’re completed later this year they will be in the first net-zero energy condo complex in California, Business Insider reports. The rooftop solar panels will generate all the energy for the entire building, the resident’s appliances and even an electric vehicle charging station in the garage.

That energy efficiency isn’t cheap. Prices for these green condos start at $2M, but at least the price includes part-ownership of the solar panels. [BI]
