Tech entrepreneur Tien Wong (black shirt) bought Herndon, Va.-based Tech 2000 last year because he saw it as an idea factory that would churn out innovative mobility and analytics products. This week, the company—which develops mobile apps for companies like Apple, Verizon, and Cisco—released a sales enablement platform called Appnetic at TechCrunch Disrupt New York. Geared to companies of any size, but particularly those with outside sales forces of at least 15 reps, it lets non-technical marketing people create native mobile apps with up-to-date collateral, product info, and other content for its sales teams. Appnetic has over 6,000 beta users, and Tien says it will be mass released by late June.

Tien, who’s also chairman of Lore Systems in Silver Spring, Md., says the app isn’t being targeted to any particular industry yet, but the feedback from the tech industry has been positive. He predicts it’ll attract interest from industries with broad and continually changing product portfolios like automobiles, medical devices, consumer products, and financial services. The app tackles the problem of sales people using outdated info. It also has analytics to track which sales reps are using which marketing collateral and how often, along with ratings and feedback on each piece of content.
