Global Selfie!

On Earth Day this year, NASA asked people to take a selfie and share it on social media with the hashtag #GlobalSelfie. The agency then used those selfies to create a photo of the planet and released it yesterday. The “Global Selfie” mosaic used over 36,000 individual photos from over 50,000 images tagged #GlobalSelfie posted around Earth Day on social media. The photos came from people on every continent and 113 countries and regions. It’s also a zoomable 3.2-gigapixel image that can scanned and explored to look at individual photos. (Here's a fun game: Let's count how many selfies were taken in a bathroom mirror.)
