Nonprofits often have great ideas but no funds or resources to follow through. 501cTECH, a DC-based nonprofit that links organizations with tech resources, is tweaking its annual innovation awards to allow nonprofits to compete for funding and consulting based on ideas they have for how to use technology. A $7,500 award, along with a tech consultation, will be given in three categories: PreK-12 and STEM education; skills to succeed and workforce development; and veterans and military families. The deadline is June 30 and judging will be done by tech company reps from firms like Blackboard, Accenture, and Facebook. Last year’s winner was Potomac River Keepers, which created an app for people to report pollution in the Potomac Watershed.
