Student Housing Remains Strong In First Half Of 2016

Investors and developers are seeing huge opportunities in student housing, especially with college enrollment at an all-time high. Student housing hit a record $2.6B in capital in Q1—the largest single-quarter investment since 2006—a 66.2% jump in year-to-year growth, National Real Estate Investor reports.

Experts say there has been an influx of foreign investments, such as the $1.4B inflow from a JV deal between Scion, CPPIB and GIC—part of which was brokered by Walker & Dunlop.

“I don’t know if there will ever be a point of supply and demand meeting in this sector,” CBRE National Director of Student Housing Jaclyn Fitts says. [NREI]
