Top Cities Swarmed by Undergrads

Placeholder

Hoping to capitalize on the major spending power of college students? The Sparefoot named the top cities with the largest percentage of young people living in on-campus housing. Springfield, Mass. leads this list (we're sure it still looks just like this pic from 1905), home to more than 63,000 undergrads, and 40% of them live in residence halls. Local universities have found that each on-campus resident spends about $2,500 a year in the region on top of tuition and room and board. Other hotspots on the list include Syracuse, Albany, and Rochester in New York; Greenville, S.C.; and Providence, R.I.
