MINNEAPOLIS: Students Love Target

Placeholder

Students at the University of Minnesota are anxiously awaiting the arrival of The Marshall. Sure, it’s going to be an exciting and unique community, but even better—it'll have a Target. EdR’s Scott Barton (back row in the middle of the R) tells us his team wanted grocer and small merchandise offerings to fill the community’s 28k SF of retail, and he was surprised when Target reached out to him offering to fill both needs. This will be the brand’s first small-store Target Express prototype at 21k SF.

Scott says they’re still tweaking the concept, but the store will have both food and small goods (tailored to the Dinkytown market). The Marshall itself is also hotly anticipated. It’ll deliver this summer, and demand’s been greater than EdR anticipated. It originally planned 881 beds, but bumped that up to 994 to fulfill the plethora of requests for double occupancy rooms. (True Detective isn't as fun to watch without someone to explain your crazy theories to.) It’s amenity-rich, with indoor pool, indoor basketball court, volleyball, grills, and roll-up garage doors that provide indoor/outdoor spaces.
