Amazon Is Opening A Second Brick-And-Mortar Store

It looks like the much-anticipated Amazon brick-and-mortar store is going into San Diego’s Westfield’s University Towne Center mall. Last fall, Amazon opened its first Amazon Books (above) at University Village, an upscale open-air shopping center in Seattle.

Signage is going up and an Amazon spokeswoman confirmed the store is coming, the San Diego Union-Tribune reports. The coming Amazon Books has been expected since the company began posting ads in early February for store managers, booksellers and device enthusiasts.

Westfield's University Towne Center at 4545 La Jolla Village Dr, is an upscale, outdoor shopping mall similar to Seattle's University Village. The Seattle store opened last November with about 5,500 SF of retail space. Judging by offerings there, the San Diego store would most likely carry titles popular with online customers and electronic devices, such as Kindle and Kindle Fire. [SDUT
