Amazon Goes Brick-and-Mortar

Talk about salt in the wound. After bringing Borders and Barnes & Noble to their knees, Amazon.com is opening a brick-and-mortar store in a mall near the University of Washington…in a mall where a Barnes & Noble used to be.

Amazon Books, as it will be called, will feature Kindles along with Amazon.com's best-selling and highest-rated books. Books will be offered at the same price as they are online, MarketWatch reports.

Amazon has actually been inching into brick-and-mortar with kiosks at shopping malls and on college campuses, where customers can buy Kindles, Amazon-branded cases and apparel. College students can also pick up and return packages on campus sites. [MW]
