Dollar General To Open 1,000 New Locations
Dollar General plans to open 1,000 new stores through 2017, as it moves forward with a 6% to 8% SF growth model. On top of that the thriving low-tier retailer plans to remodel or relocate 900 existing locations in the coming year.
It’s just good and better news for Dollar General, as the company forecasts 7% to 10% growth this year, fresh off reporting 7% growth during Q4, Retail Dive reports.
Stagnant wages and financial struggles of low- and middle-income Americans have discount stores like Dollar General heating up, while pricier rival retailers like Macy’s and Sears are barely treading water. [RetailDive]
