BOMA International’s 2016-2017 Chair and Chief Elected Officer Brian Harnetiaux gave his farewell remarks as the organization’s leader before ushering in new Chair Rob Brierley, BOMA Fellow. Brierley opened his acceptance speech Tuesday night with a shout-out to his hometown of Boston (he is the first BOMA International chair from the city) and said he will be committed to building BOMA’s momentum in its leadership development efforts.

“There is a talent shortage in the industry, and BOMA needs to be at the forefront of showing [commercial real estate] as a great career choice,” Brierley said.

Conference attendees also said farewell to Nashville, but the BOMA crowd should not put away the cowboy boots just yet. San Antonio will host BOMA 2018, and Gloria Contreras and Blake Sheppard of BOMA/San Antonio shared what to expect when everyone heads to Texas.

“We are excited and can’t wait to host BOMA 2018 deep in the heart of Texas in Old San Antone,” Contreras said. The city of San Antonio also will be celebrating its 300th anniversary next year.

See y’all in Texas!
