Local Developer Wants To Buy GE's Old HQs

Kleban Properties, the largest commercial property owner in town, wants to buy General Electric’s old headquarters in Fairfield, CT, after GE announced its move to a new Boston HQ.

Albert Kleban, chairman of Kleban Properties, says GE is in the process of drawing up a non-disclosure agreement so the two parties can discuss the purchase of the 70-acre campus.

Kleban Properties wants to lease the 500k SF office site—which sits above 300k SF of underground parking—out to a mix of high-tech businesses, and maybe even a university, the New York Times reports.

Kleban Properties owns several major retail and office plazas in Fairfield’s downtown, at least 10 shopping centers along the Black Rock Turnpike and properties outside Connecticut. [NYT]
