A Look At Google's Plans For New Mountain View Campus

Placeholder

The city of Mountain View has posted Google's plans for its new campus in Charleston East, and the vision shifts from a proposed glass dome to a more draped-canopy effect.

The project will have a two-story, 595k SF office building on the 18.6-acre site. The canopy regulates the indoor climate, air quality and sound, allows in daylight, and will incorporate photovoltaics to generate energy.

A public green loop trail will cut through the building and tie the campus to Google's existing North Bayshore campus and to the Mountain View community. It will be lined with cafés and shops open to the public and Google.

Designed with flexible office space in mind, more collaborative spaces, conference rooms and cafés will be on the first floor with desk space concentrated on the quieter second floor.
