Lawsuit Filed Over Hollywood Palladium Towers

Lawsuit Filed Over Hollywood Palladium Towers

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation has filed a lawsuit against the City of Los Angeles for approval of two residential high-rises on Sunset Boulevard adjacent to the Hollywood Palladium and across the street from the foundation.

The city is in violation of the California Environmental Quality Act as well as its charter, according to the lawsuit.

The suit criticizes the city for adjusting zoning for specific developments. The LA City Council voted last month to approve the project by changing height limits and existing zoning, according to the LA Times.

The AIDS Healthcare Foundation also is supporting a ballot initiative that would force LA to institute a two-year moratorium on some projects and limit larger ones.

Supporters of the initiative, including the Coalition to Preserve LA, hope to put it on the March 27 ballot. [LAT]
