Condo Developers Tapping Into Millennials’ Arcade Nostalgia

Developers are adding vintage arcade rooms in hopes of attracting younger professionals. The rooms provide unlimited access to classic games such as Donkey Kong and continue the trend of appealing to Millennials desire for amenities when trading up for luxury buildings. At 66 Rockwell Place, a 326-unit Brooklyn apartment building, access to the arcade room is included with a $600 annual membership to the building’s amenities space. Rents range from $2,900 to $10,900 and the membership package includes a rooftop lounge and health club, the Wall Street Journal reports. The upfront costs of adding an arcade room are relatively low but maintenance of the vintage games can become costly. Due to specialized maintenance requirements for arcades, repairs can run from several hundred to several thousand dollars. [WSJ]
