Yahoo Leaving Ashburn?

National Data Center

One of the world's largest search engines looks to be searching for new data center digs.

An SEC filing reveals that Yahoo intends to sublease its current holdings at DuPont Fabros Technology's ACC2 and ACC4 facilities. Yahoo leases the entirety of ACC2--10.4MW of critical load power--while using 13.65MW of 36.4MW at ACC4. No reason was given, but Yahoo did recently announce a $170M expansion of its Lockport, NY data center. Despite this, DuPont also reported to the SEC that it began a string of new leases with some Internet giants--including Yahoo, which commenced two leases this past January expiring between 2015 and 2019 (it was unclear if these were the same leases as above). Other recent new leases include Facebook, Microsoft, and Rackspace.
