Tweets Are Expensive

National Data Center

You all do a lot of Tweeting. In its latest 10-K, Twitter revealed it's cost of revenue jumped by $138M from 2012, mainly due to new employee headcounts and stock-based compensation expenses. But also partly--$15M--in increased data center colo costs, such at its use of the QTS data center in Atlanta pictured here. (If you tweet pictures of fatty foods, it probably takes more data.) 2014 capital expenditures should hit $330M to $390M, company officials state, a portion of which it will finance through capital leases, as it expands its co-located data centers.
