Reis Sues Hacker for $360k of Stolen Reports

National

With the recent influx of company hacks, Reis has decided to take a stand, taking a local hacker to court over $360k of illegally downloaded reports. According to the suit, a Texas-based information thief has been stealing proprietary reports from Reis' 7,000- neighborhood commercial real estate database, using the log-in information of a NYC-based "Fortune Global 500 financial institution." The hacker reportedly logged into the database 178 times over the past year, snagging 798 reports. Reports go for as much as $999, pushing Reis to fight for punitive damages and repayment, the suit said. [NYP]
