Last night, AREW--one of NYC's CREW chapters and the first org in the US for women in real estate--celebrated its 35th anniversary at the swank Gotham Hall. In 1973, chapter founder Merle Gross-Ginsburg (whom we snapped above) attended her first Real Estate Board of NY banquet (a gathering of 2,000 of the city's most powerful CRE names). She was one of three women. In 1977, she and seven other women--who didn't know each other--spoke at a REBNY women's seminar to an audience of 100. In 1978, AREW NY held its first meeting, with 75 attendees. And last night, 500 (including some gentlemen friends) helped say, "Happy birthday, AREW."

Happy Mother's Day to all of your wonderful moms and a special shout out to the women who gave our editors the gift of life: Rosemary, Nancy, Mary, and Laurie. sibley@bisnow.com.
