Banking giant HSBC USA took a $5M charge this past year to shutter its Amherst data center and consolidate in Chicago. The company filed info on the financial impact of its recent real estate restructuring with the SEC, which included $21M in write offs for bank branch consolidation. The charge is the final result of its planned data center consolidation announced in 2009, only two years after spending millions to upgrade the NY facility.
