Pivot Data Centres is under way with an 80k-plus SF Tier 3 colo facility in Alberta (loosely demonstrated by Pivot's Nathan Keller dropping the bass). It will be housed in an existing warehouse in Calgary off the Queen Elizabeth II Highway. The facility will house more than 1,000 racks, though Pivot CEO Michael Koury tells us the first phase build-out will involve 450 at a cost of $25M.

Pivots two other data centers in Calgary (above) are reaching capacity and its new 40k SF facility in Edmonton is 50% sold out, Michael says. He calls Alberta a "very professional, very data-intensive city because of the energy sector primarily." Pivot is also scouting sites in Western Canada and more space in Calgary. Michael tells us: Our business is growing fairly well, and well be to the market on a regular basis for sources of capital.
