What We Learned At This Week's Colliers America Conference

Placeholder

More than 1,000 employees of Colliers International, including the global CEO, descended on DC last week for the Colliers Americas conference in the Washington Hilton. Most of the conference was closed to the public, but Bisnow and other select members of the media were invited to take in a capital markets panel featuring some big names.

We snapped Colliers West president Marty Pupil; head of DC investment sales group Bill Kaye; ULI chief content officer Kathleen Carey; West managing director Rick Putnam; Atlanta VP Will Matthews; and SVP John Banas from Philly.

The group discussed interest rate increases—Bill says DC investment sales have already priced future ones into the market—and the investment climates in their respective regions.

Because of flat rents and owner concessions, Bill says many owners in the area are trying to monetize their secondary assets, hence focusing on their more marketable pieces in core areas.
