Hurricane-Whipped Affordable Housing Revived

South Florida
Placeholder

McClure Village in Pahokee took a beating from Hurricane Wilma in 2005, and the recession hampered efforts to rehab the damaged property, which houses very-low income residents. But finally, along with funding from HUD's Neighborhood Stabilization Program, Housing Trust Group was able to make the renovations, which included hurricane-hardening improvements. Snapped at the ribbon cutting for the rehab is Housing Trust Group chairman Randy Rieger, who tells us the Glades region of Palm Beach has a particular need of this kind of affordable housing. The work also involved the addition of five new units that Housing Trust developed for the Pahokee Housing Authority.
