Sunset Group has bought The Current in downtown Long Beach for $132.9M.

The 223-unit apartment tower, at 707 East Ocean Blvd., opened last year.

AndersonPacific, Ledcor Properties and Qualico Developments developed the property.

It went on sale in February, the Los Angeles Business Journal reports.

San Francisco's BAR Architects designed The Current, which consists of studio, one- and two-bedroom units with penthouses, a rooftop sun deck and a swimming pool.

A 3,800 SF Starbucks is the only retail tenant so far.

The property later will include a second, 35-story tower. A groundbreaking for it is expected later this year.
