The Current, a 223-unit apartment tower at 707 East Ocean Blvd in downtown Long Beach, is now open.

AndersonPacific, Ledcor Properties and Qualico Developments are developing the 17-story building.

The property will be built in two phases with two towers eventually being connected by a 10k SF plaza. There will also be amenities on the property, including retail, reports Multi-Housing News.

San Francisco's BAR Architects is designing the property, which consists of studio, one- and two-bedroom units. There are penthouses, a sundeck on the roof and a swimming pool.

The development is reportedly downtown Long Beach’s first new multifamily high-rise since before the recession.

A groundbreaking for the second, 35-story tower is scheduled to take place next year. [MHN]
