Will LA Multifamily’s Rebound Last? Find Out At Bisnow’s Feb. 8 Event

The word “rebound” is being used a lot to describe the state of multifamily housing in Los Angeles. After a tough 2020, vacancies had fallen dramatically by Q3 2021 and rent was trending upward. Multifamily sales returned to pre-pandemic levels, too.

Rising rents coupled with low interest rates are proving to be very attractive to investors. A senior executive with CBRE recently commented that investor interest in multifamily was “at an all-time high” with sales in 2021 about triple what they were in 2020.

Some observers expect this trend to continue into 2022, putting multifamily in a better position than sectors such as office that are more clearly at the mercy of Covid-19’s impacts.

What are people with a front-row view of the LA multifamily market seeing, and what are their expectations for 2022? Find out at Bisnow’s Los Angeles Multifamily Update event on Feb. 8.

Key LA commercial real estate and affordable housing players will gather to share strategies and discuss issues including affordability, multifamily supply and demand and the pandemic’s impact on building construction and design. Attendees will include brokers, owners, developers, investors, contractors, designers, architects, financial institutions and government officials.

Scheduled speakers at the Los Angeles Multifamily Update include experts both in the market rate and affordable housing sectors. They will include:

  • Tonja Boykin, chief operating officer of the Weingart Center.
  • Lee Raagas, CEO of Skid Row Housing Trust.
  • Monique Lawshe, executive vice president of GHC Housing.
  • Laura Vandeweghe, chief operating officer of The Decro Group.
  • Patrick Rhodes, vice president of mixed-use development for Brookfield Properties.
  • Robert Montano, vice president at Adept Urban.
  • Eric Scott, principal with WHA Architects.
