Live/Work Housing Could Come To The Arts District

Developers are flocking to the Arts District once again with one of the latest proposed projects, a mixed-use building to replace a warehouse.

This 27k SF warehouse at 676 South Mateo St would give way to an 85-foot-tall building, according to plans just filed with the LA City Planning Department.

The building would have 23k SF of retail space and 172 live/work units with 11% of them set aside for affordable housing, Curbed reports.

The request to develop the site, which totals 44,800 SF, was made by District Centre, a new limited partnership.

A number of other developments could be headed to the Arts District, including a mega project from Irvine's SunCal that would include two hotels, 1,736 residential units and office and retail space designed by Herzog & de Meuron. [Curbed]
