Plans For 8500 Sunset May Have Hit Roadblock

Placeholder

CIM Group recently sold the condo buildings at 8500 Sunset to Korman Communities and Brookfield Property Group.

The new owners' plans are to turn the property into a corporate extended-stay hotel, but West Hollywood officials are saying not so fast, WeHoville reports.

Using the property's 190 units for such a purpose would violate a West Hollywood ordinance that prohibits the use of condos or apartments as corporate housing.

If the plans are to go forward, Korman Communities would have to convince the West Hollywood City Council to overturn its ban.

It is not known when Korman Communities might formally take up the matter with the West Hollywood City Council.

The 8500 Sunset complex is part of CIM Group's Sunset|La Cienega development.
