AEG To Form Partnership With City For LA Convention Center?

Placeholder

The City of LA and AEG could form a public-private partnership to help solve the problem of the lack of hotel rooms near the LA Convention Center in DTLA and not enough space inside it.

AEG has contacted the City of LA, offering to expand the LA Convention Center and increase the number of hotel rooms "while providing private development opportunities complementary to Staples Center and L.A. Live," according to a motion filed by LA Councilman Curren Price, Urbanize LA reports.

Such a possible partnership was introduced late last year by LA chief administrative officer Miguel Santana.

It was mentioned as an alternative to a $350M expansion plan in which the city council has shown interest.

AEG developed both LA Live and Staples Center.

The City of LA will review the proposal. [ULA]
