LA's Hotel Boom

Los Angeles Hotel

In LA, it's not enough for a hotel to leave the light on for you. That light better illuminate some daring amenities. Which hotels can pull it off? What's the outlook for financing? We're excited to answer these next week at Bisnow's annual Hospitality event, LA Hotel Boom! A Race to the Top. Join us Nov. 7, 8am, at the Millennium Biltmore Hotel.

This morning, we chatted with one of our panelists: Suffolk Construction COO Min Zavarella (here with wife Julie at their favorite local getaway, Terranea in Rancho Palos Verdes), who's under construction on CIM Group's Sunset La Cienega project in West Hollywood. It consists of two 10-story hotel towers containing 286 rooms and two eight-story residential towers with 190 apartment units. With its iconic location at the top of La Cienega facing Sunset Boulevard, and extensive amenities for both tourists and locals, Min expects the hotel project will become a point of destination when it's completed in Q3 '16. The hotel will have an overlook with views down into the LA Basin. Min's last big hotel project was the 55-story JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton tower at LA Live. Weekends are spent on baseball and soccer fields and basketball courts, watching his three kids compete. For updates from a dozen more experts, join us Nov. 7 at 8am. Sign up here!
