Harper Dennis Hobbs, known for introducing international retailers to London, is rebranding.

London-based retail property consultancy Harper Dennis Hobbs is rebranding to Newmark.

The consultancy will adopt the legal entity name of Newmark HDH Limited “to seamlessly represent the Newmark Group’s global retail practice and further elevate client service”, according to its owner.

Newmark is expanding in the UK and Europe, as part of a push to match global rivals like CBRE, JLL and Cushman & Wakefield. In April it bought specialist London office agency BH2 and it has been in talks to buy national agency firm Gerald Eve, in what would be its biggest acquisition yet.

HDH is an adviser of tenant-focused retail brokerages in Europe, providing real estate advisory services for a wide range of both luxury and high street retailers in the UK and internationally.

Newmark acquired the agency in 2019 and in announcing the name change noted that HDH has experienced consistent organic growth since its founding.

HDH has a strong foothold in the leisure sector with particular strengths in securing international brands for entry into the UK market.

Additionally, the business’s annual Vitality Ranking report, determining the health of high streets and shopping centres in the UK, is a well-known resource for informing investor decisions on large-scale trends.

Earlier this year Newmark HDH announced plans to launch the first strategic consultancy designed to help retailers who want to expand into the metaverse.

The new arm of HDH’s retail vision has been designed to focus on how companies can best operate in Web 3.0, offering advice to retailers on what platform is best suited for their products and strategies.

“Since being acquired by Newmark, our team has strengthened client service," Newmark Vice Chairman, Head of UK and European Retail Markets James Ebel said. "We have continued to deliver for world-leading retail and leisure operators, infused our office division business, and being a part of Newmark has expanded our offerings with a greater network around the globe — especially in North America.”

U.S.-based Newmark generated revenue of approximately $3.1B for the year ending September 30, 2022. Newmark’s company-owned offices, together with its business partners, operate from approximately 180 offices with nearly 6,700 staff.
