Amazon To Open Packing Centre In Essex

Placeholder

Amazon will open a new delivery warehouse in Essex next year, the 13th in the UK. The facility is slated to open in Tilbury in May and will create 1,500 permanent jobs. Amazon already employs about 15,500 people in the UK, according to the Guardian.

The retail giant will move to the London Distribution Park, owned by Forth Ports and Roxhill Developments, and will feature Amazon’s robotics technology in which product shelves move to the worker, not the other way around. This method makes the process quicker, and saves space. Amazon estimates it allows up to 50% more items to be stored per SF. [Guardian]
