Bisnow Rise UK — Meet The Companies Pushing The Boundaries On Improving DE&I

Say hello to the companies leading the charge to improve racial diversity in UK real estate: Bisnow is proud to reveal the honourees for our inaugural UK Rise Initiative.

Our goal was to highlight the difference that a successful diversity, equality and inclusion initiative can make across the real estate industry. A total of 32 companies registered, and we started with 18 entries, which our steering committee whittled down to the seven profiled here. Join us at our event on 22 June to meet the teams behind these initiatives. While reviewing the submissions, we learned a great deal about the UK real estate industry’s DE&I journey, finding there has been considerable success from schemes that focus on gender diversity.

But Bisnow’s Rise Initiative is focused on other aspects of DE&I — ethnicity and, to an extent, social background. This is where more work needs to be done to define a strategy and measure outcomes.

While all DE&I initiatives are a step in the right direction, our focus was on those that are making a tangible difference.

We are excited to spotlight seven key initiatives that are clearly defined and have a definite, measurable return on investment. While some are still on a small scale or just starting out, the steering committee said they are worthy of being celebrated for the clearly defined measures put in place to track success.

A feature common to almost all these initiatives is that they are led from the top. The steering committee was impressed by those driven by senior leadership as well as those able to demonstrate how their initiative ties in with a wider DE&I strategy.

Each honouree displays ideas and commitment that all real estate organisations can replicate. It’s now down to other organisations to take inspiration and lead change throughout the industry.
