Blue Marble Cocktails And Spirits Relocates Manufacturing And HQ To Indianapolis

Blue Marble Cocktails and Spirits, which makes ready-to-drink, pre-mixed cocktails and spirits, is relocating from Portland, Oregon, to Indianapolis. The company plans to move its headquarters and manufacturing operations, and by 2019 will create about 50 new jobs in its new location.

Blue Marble Cocktails — named after the famed images of the Earth taken from space — will initially lease and renovate an 18K SF facility at 6008 Corporate Way.

The new facility will house the company's office space and showroom, but also its mixing and production warehouse. Blue Marble Cocktails will be able to produce nearly 3 million cases, which includes 24 cans per case, of its ready-to-drink cocktails and spirits per year at the Indiana facility, Area Development reports.

The Corporate Way facility will not be the company's permanent HQ in Indiana. Blue Marble plans to develop a new production site, and has already begun its search for a permanent location, which will be in central Indiana.

Blue Marble founder and CEO Alan Miller happens to be from Indiana originally, but that was only part of the reason for the move. As an incentive, Indiana Economic Development Corp. offered Blue Marble up to $765K in conditional tax credits.

The incentives are performance-based, so the company will have to hire Indiana residents to be able to claim them. Also, the city of Indianapolis is supporting the project at the request of Develop Indy, a business unit of the Indy Chamber.
