Popular Texas Grocer Heads West

HEB is celebrating its 110th anniversary this year with further expansion. The popular grocer purchased 28 acres in Cross Creek Ranch, a 3,200-acre property developed by Johnson Development.

The new store will be the first major grocer in Fulshear, a budding city on the fringe of Fort Bend County. The site is at the corner of Fulshear Bend Drive and FM 1493; a construction schedule has yet to be announced. Read King has purchased 20 adjacent acres for future development of a shopping center, contributing to a total of 200 acres of commercial development in Cross Creek Ranch.

HEB's been growing explosively throughout the metro (with award-winning development, no less) for a couple of years now, and has also been snapping up land in DFW for a possible entry there. [RNR]
