Kroger Houston president Bill Breetz's (above, between Weitzman's Herb Weitzman and Cencor's David Palmer) career with Kroger, which started 44 years ago as a bagger, will come to a close as he retires in August. His replacement will be Marlene Stewart, VP of Kroger's Dillons division of Midwest grocery stores, reports the Houston Chronicle. She too worked her way up from a bagger, and now has 39 years of experience at the company. She'll manage Kroger's 113 stores and 16,000 employees in the Houston area, which spans from Bryan/College Station to Lake Charles, LA. The company is in the middle of a three-year, $500M expansion in the region[Chron]
