Hot Retailer Alert: Sub Zero

Placeholder

Here’s a summer treat—Houston’s getting a new ice cream chain. Sub Zero Ice Cream & Yogurt just signed its first lease in the Bayou City (1,200 SF in Vintage Marketplace), and its broker, Weitzman’s Jacob Grossman, tells us it’s looking at doing 10 to 15 more deals here in the next five years. Sub Zero is targeting grocery-anchored, power or lifestyle centers, preferably near entertainment concepts like movie theaters or sports arenas and a strong restaurant lineup. (In Vintage Marketplace, it’s keeping company with Whole Foods, Verts and Mod Pizza.) Pictured, Jacob's far right with colleagues Gage Raba, Yuri Bouharevich and Edward Heap.

Jacob tells us Sub Zero is especially targeting Katy, The Woodlands, Pearland, Webster, Sugar Land and Galveston. The concept is unique—it uses liquid nitrogen to hand mix each order with customizable flavors and add-ins.
