Another Contender Enters Houston's Burger Wars With Four Locations

Placeholder

One-time Austin food truck Hat Creek Burger Co. is planning to open four locations in Houston. The company is looking to pursue a more suburban strategy than some of its competitors, looking at buildings in Missouri City, Fulshear, Cinco Ranch and Spring, a spokesman told the Houston Business Journal. The first Houston-area store is projected to open in early spring 2019.

The expansion is not limited to Houston, with six additional locations planned in Dallas, Temple, Sachse, Waco and Austin. Cielo Property Group's Brad Devault is working to find locations on behalf of Hat Creek Burger Co.

Each location includes a play area for children, as the chain touts itself as a family-friendly burger brand. On average, the locations are 4,200 SF, including a patio and playground.

Hat Creek Burger Co. will look to set itself apart from a large rack of competitors. Hop Doddy is planning its fifth Houston location. Shake Shack opened its third location earlier this year. California-based Burgerim has plans for 12 Houston locations while Florida-based Checkers is looking to add 25 locations across the metro.
