The company was created last year in a merger between Cabot Oil & Gas of Houston and Denver-based Cimarex Energy. Cabot has maintained an office out of Three Memorial Plaza since 2008. Coterra will lease 122K SF over six floors.

Landlord MetroNational represented itself, with Brad MacDougall and Warren Alexander. The tenant was represented by Jim Bailey of Cushman & Wakefield and Lucian Bukowski of CBRE.

“This is an opportunity for Coterra Energy to relaunch our company with a newly visioned workspace for our Houston headquarters,” Coterra Energy Senior Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer Chris Clason said in a release. “We could have moved anywhere in Houston, but our employees love this location and are excited about the plans for the reimagined complex and Coterra offices.”

MetroNational is spending $20M for renovations on the 1M SF Three Memorial City Plaza office complex. Renovations at the three-tower development are estimated to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year. Ziegler Cooper is interior and exterior architect, and Design Workshop is the landscape architect.

“This announcement signifies our company’s ongoing commitment to invest and redevelop Memorial City for the long-term,” MetroNational President Jason Johnson said in the release. “This is going to be a year of vibrant transformation and innovation across our entire portfolio and reimagining the workspace experience at Memorial City Plazas is just the first step.”
