Goodbye, St. James Courtyard

Houston Office

Real estate pros gathered at St. James Courtyard last week to usher out an event icon—the property is being redeveloped into 1885 St. James Place, a 135k SF Class-A office property. (It was either George Harrison or Yogi Bear who said: "All things must pass.") Developer Nelson Murphree Legacy Partners is an exciting reunion for Mission Cos CEO Dennis Nelson and Murphree Venture Partners CEO Dennis Murphree. We snapped its David Nelson, Ryan Clarke, Shel Erikson (part of the ownership group), David N., David M., and Patrick Murphree. Dennis N. says he’s excited that the project is bringing together three father-and-son pairs (Shel’s son is part of the team, too), and Dennis M. is pleased to get back into development for the first time since ‘87.

JLL SVP Chrissy Wilson (here between Laurel Chick and Giang Quach at the event) is handling leasing with VP Chris Dekker. Chris gave five reasons to love the building: location (in San Felipe Green), size (135k SF will lease quickly), floorplate (two size options provide flexibility), parking (podium style), and timing. 1885 St. James Place will launch construction this quarter and deliver in summer 2015. Jackson & Ryan is the architect, and Tellepsen is GC.
