Baker Hughes to Join Exxon?

Houston Office

Is Springwoods Village getting its third major HQ? (Or as a bowler would call it, the Turkey.)

Sources tell us Baker Hughes is planning to build a 400k to 500k SF HQ on a tract just south of Southwestern Energy. One exec tells us he’s hearing that CDC is veering away from selling tracts to office developers because it’s been getting so much interest from end users. Along that front, employees will start moving into Exxon’s campus this month, and Southwestern Energy will occupy its building in January 2015. (Should be a lot easier to field an Ultimate Frisbee team around here pretty soon.)

We'll have to keep watching this one; CDC reps say Baker Hughes doesn’t have any property under contract in Springwoods Village, and declined to comment on any activity on the aforementioned tract. There’s no lack of activity in the development now; Fein is leasing The Belvedere at Springwoods Village, a 342-unit multifamily project that’s opening this month. And CDC says we can expect some announcements about Town Center (rendered here) in the next few months; the firm has previously said that Phase 1 will open in 2015 with a full-service hotel, luxury apartments, office space, and retail.
