Packwell, a Houston-based plastic resin business, is planning further expansion in the area. The company is in negotiations to build a 500k SF facility near the Port of Houston in 2017, CEO Al Duran told the Houston Business Journal. The facility is expected to deliver in Q4 2017 at an estimated cost between $30M and $35M. Packwell has 250 employees and expects to hire 50 people in the next 12 months, Duran said.

Earlier this year, Packwell leased 286k SF at Bayport Distribution Center. The space is 70% operational, with the rest coming online throughout the next year. The company's Houston footprint grew by 30% in 2016, and another 35% is expected in 2017. [HBJ]
