This Week's Houston Deal Sheet

This past week, Skanska has been announcing hires and promotions in its US commercial development operations. Matt Damborsky is taking over as the new EVP of the Houston market.

Since joining Skanska a year ago, Damborsky has led the development of Capitol Tower and worked with the West Memorial teams to bring both phases of that development to completion. With nearly 10 years of experience in the real estate business, Damborsky has contributed to the development of more than 2M SF of commercial office space representing approximately $1.5B. 

 

LEASES

Third Palm Capital welcomes Houston Technology Center to Republic Square, the office redevelopment of a 35-acre campus formerly occupied by ExxonMobil. HTC West will occupy 20k SF of workstyle space from Boxer Property.

NAI Partners' Chris Caudill and Jake Wilkinson repped 6614 Dixie Properties in leasing a 28,800 SF industrial manufacturing facility at 6614 Dixie Drive in Houston.

Ultra-Resources renewed 19,800 SF of office space for five years at 400 North Sam Houston Parkway E in Houston. Richard Maloof repped the landlord, Hartman Income REIT Management.

Black Label Commercial Group’s Beau Harris leased an 8k SF office/warehouse at 9950 Bammel North Houston. Beau Harris repped the landlord, Natclay Properties, and the tenant, Bammel Collision Center.

Pate Taraborelli Partners renewed 5,100 SF of office space for three years at 616 FM 1960 in Houston. Richard Maloof repped the landlord, Hartman Income REIT Management.

The Weitzman Group has been selected as leasing agent for the retail space in The Ivy Lofts, a 26-story mixed-use tower to be developed on a city block at the southwest corner of Leeland and Live Oak streets in Houston’s vibrant EaDo (east downtown) district. Randy Hopper and Edward Heap with The Weitzman Group will handle the retail leasing at the project.

Marcus & Millichap’s Logan Miller and Dave Knobler completed the sale of Brazos Moving and Storage. The asset, a 477-unit Class-A self-storage facility completed at the end of 2015 in College Station. Miller and Knobler secured the buyer, a foreign investor.

Edifis Group purchased two shopping centers in the New Forest Crossing development on East Sam Houston Parkway. The shopping centers, 13 miles northeast of Downtown Houston, were built in 2006 and are at 100% occupancy. With retailers such as Buffalo Wild Wings residing in one of the largest spaces, the centers span 26,700 SF across almost 3.5 acres of land.

Marcus & Millichap’s Dave Knobler and Charles "Chico" LeClaire completed the sale of Memorial Mini Storage, a 519-unit self-storage facility at 1101 Tully Road in Houston.

Caldwell Cos is finishing up a strong year in its land division with the following deals. 

Keith Edwards worked the following deals:

  • Repped the seller of 45 acres on Stuebner Airline Road. The buyer is a national homebuilder.
  • Repped the seller of 15 acres on Smithstone Drive. The buyer is a national homebuilder.
  • Repped the seller on a sale of 24 acres on FM 2100. Huffman ISD was the buyer of the tract.

Keith Edwards and Daniel Greco also repped the seller of 60 acres on Burton Cemetery Road and the seller of 24 acres on Stokes Road. Keith Grothaus repped the seller on the sale of two acres on FM 2218. The property was sold to a church.

HIRE/PROMOTIONS

Central Houston hired Ty Tabbing as director of economic development. Tabbing brings 20 years of experience in government, urban planning and economic development. Prior to joining Central Houston, Tabbing served as the inaugural executive director of the 2015 Chicago Architecture Biennial.
