Congrats to Hicks Ventures president Pat Hicks; not for the latest deal, but for earning a spot in the 2015 class of the North Texas Athletics Hall of Fame. He will be inducted officially in a ceremony next spring. Pat has been called one of the best point guards to ever suit up for the University of North Texas. He’s the all-time leader in assists in school history. A wizard at point guard, he finished with 526 career assists, nearly 200 more than the next closest in history. He led North Texas in assists in three straight seasons and had three of the top four single-season assist totals in history. He’s also not bad at this commercial real estate gig. He just signed two deals for 108k SF at Block 10 West. He tells us he can’t name the tenants just yet, but the combined lease value is $50M in 12- and 15-year deals. The project is now 52% leased, he tells us.

This picture was taken right after Pat hit a 35-foot shot at the buzzer to send UNT into overtime with the University of Texas. (UNT won.) Pat tells us there were around 10,000 fans packing UNT’s Super Pit that night when legendary UT coach Abe Lemons came over and broke into the team huddle as they were preparing for the overtime period. He “shook my hand and congratulated me on the shot, to the dismay of our coaching staff and my teammates,” Pat tells us. It’s a memory he won’t soon forget. That buzzer-beating shot may be one he’s known for, but he’s also the holder of the UNT single-game assist record of 19 (that’s an assist almost every two minutes). Among the NBA greats he played against in his UNT tenure: Karl Malone, Danny Ainge, Mark Aguirre, Terry Cummings, Lasalle Thompson, Joe Dumars, Andre Turner, Keith Lee and Antoine Carr.
