Savills Buys The Building Consultancy As Agents Consolidate
Consolidation in the Irish real estate advisory market has continued after Savills Ireland acquired The Building Consultancy, an independent building and project practice that acts as a specialist adviser to occupiers, funders, commercial property owners and professional advisers.
The acquisition expands Savills' capability in building surveying and project consultancy, covering technical due diligence, preacquisition surveys, development monitoring, project management, cost consultancy, building surveying, interior architecture and design, the company said.
With the addition of The Building Consultancy team, Savills now has more than 30 specialists delivering these services across Ireland, making the firm one of the largest providers of building consultancy in the market.
It is the second acquisition completed by Savills Ireland in the past 12 months, following its acquisition of Northern Ireland commercial property advisory firm Osborne King in 2025.
“Building and project consultancy has become a core requirement in investment, financing and occupation decisions as clients seek greater certainty, independent assessment and clear analysis before allocating capital,” Savills Ireland Managing Director Mark Reynolds said in a statement.
Last month, Sherry FitzGerald, the country’s biggest residential estate agent, received regulatory clearance from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission to acquire Knight Frank Ireland.
The CCPC determined the deal would not “substantially lessen competition” in the property market.
Sherry FitzGerald — which is owned by family office CastleGate — operates from 105 branches, 31 of which are directly owned, with a market share of about 15% of Ireland’s residential property market. The company also owns the Simon Brien agency in Northern Ireland.
The deals mark a return to the commercial property market for Sherry FitzGerald, which exited the sector in 2018 when it sold its remaining 80% stake in its commercial property arm to Cushman & Wakefield.
