Downtown and Uptown Dallas have been longing for grocery store options for the past two decades.

Residents no longer need to fear; a major grocery retailer just moved in, giving them more options.

A 56K SF Tom Thumb opened its doors Friday at The Union mixed-use development uptown, bringing with it a pharmacy. Bonus: The store comes with the option of sipping wine and beer while shopping inside.

The Tom Thumb location provides customers with a Starbucks on-site, a full-service meat counter, sushi, pizza and wing bars, fresh doughnuts for purchase, a concierge and a drive-up-and-go option for Dallasites on the move.

The Union Dallas opened in October with the delivery of the Uptown development’s 22-story office tower. The Christopher luxury apartments followed, opening last month.

The retail phase of The Union's mixed-use development concept is already open and features a Sam Fox Restaurants concept known as The Henry. Taco Lingo also opened inside the development in recent months.

This month, The Union intends to welcome Japanese restaurant Minami Sushi and liquid nitrogen ice cream chain Creamistry. North Italia by Sam Fox will open in May.
