Behind the Deal: Why Retail Realty Joined NAI Robert Lynn

When he was ready to expand his business, Retail Realty prez Dan Avnery wanted not only global reach and better resources, he wanted a firm where the decisions were made locally. (No more asking mom when dad says no. They’re both at the table.)

Dan with NAI Robert Lynn property management prez John Lancaster, NAI Robert Lynn prez Mark Miller, and NAI Robert Lynn retail division co-managing partner Tom Heraty. Dan, who's now the co-managing partner of NAI Robert Lynn's retail division, tells us that the local ownership gives him more opportunities to be entrepreneurial. He says Retail Realty’s property management division was growing at an enormous rate and needed to be affiliated with a larger platform to best handle the business. Growth was so strong, he needed more resources and staff to accommodate the business.

The acquisition added six team members to NAI Robert Lynn, and brought more than 37 listings, representing 2M SF of retail space. Retail Realty’s property management team managed seven of those properties, totaling more than 200k SF. First up on the to-do list: brand the retail division and add more talented people. Dan is branding the retail division by developing a new logo, a separate website, and a new sign design for all retail listings. One trend Dan’s seeing is the growth and expansion of circuit training users and vapor/E-cigarette retailers. (Guilt from guilt from eating dessert. We sense a theme for successful retail.)
